Description

Hydrangea paniculata, also known as Peegee hydrangea, owes its species name to the elongated, branched shape of its inflorescences, called panicles. Panicles bloom from midsummer to mid-autumn. Green, pink, white or cream, they measure from 15 to 30cm in length, depending on the variety, and change color in autumn. From the classic hydrangea paniculata ‘Kyushu’ to the giant ‘Levana’ or ‘Phantom’ or the dwarf forms of ‘Silver Dollar’ and ‘Little Lime’, there are around fifty varieties. In the garden, panicle hydrangeas are excellent multi-purpose flowering shrubs.

Old rose is a shade close to soft red. This shade is slightly darker than vieux rose. This makes the color more elegant and less feminine. That’s why it’s so popular in modern living rooms and Zen bedrooms.

It is distinguished by its sobriety. It’s an ideal shade for elegantly decorating a bohemian or Scandinavian living room.

Finding the ideal location for your Herbarium will be child’s play.

At its simplest, look for strong light exposure to make the surrounding liquid glow, on dark furniture to bring out the magnificent hues of the leaves.

Sublimate your interior with soothing, natural and luminous atmospheres, for a decoration that reflects your personality.

Plant informations

This is a deciduous shrub, less than 2 m high. The leaves are medium-green, broad and oval.

In Japan, its bark was used to make certain types of paper. It is now a species used as an ornamental shrub in shady locations, and is easily found in France.

You’ll also hear “hydrangea tree” in reference to this plant, as it can be pruned to have a single trunk or just a few large trunks. Pruning in this way allows you to accentuate a tree-like canopy.

PeeGee hydrangeas will grow between 10 and 25 feet tall. Exact height and spread will depend on pruning and growing conditions. These are fast-growing shrubs, capable of putting on 2 feet of height a few years under the best conditions. They flower from mid to late summer.

The large, cone-shaped flower heads (or “panicles”) are widest where they meet the stem, tapering downwards. They contain white “flowers” which are in fact mainly sterile sepals (petal-like plant parts). As such, they last much longer than true flowers. Flower heads turn pink over time before fading or turning brown for the winter.

A typical panicle can be 9 inches long and 7 inches in diameter at its widest point.

Weightlessly immersed in its preservative liquid and presented in an elegant bottle, it invites you to contemplate and let go, for serenity and calm.

Decorative tips

A practical and inexpensive way to decorate your home!

Lilac is a contemporary color, capable of adapting to any room in your house or apartment. As colors in the violet family tend to make a room look larger, it’s possible to go for a total look, but we recommend inviting in a few touches.

Whether pastel or dark, lilac goes with just about everything:

Lilac and white: because it goes with everything, white, combined with lilac, will only enhance the luminosity of a room that lacks it.

Lilac and pink: a romantic combination of feminine hues that’s perfect for interiors with a touch of retro.

Lilac and grey: the contrasting effect of these two colors is particularly successful.

Lilac and green: the opposite of violet on the color wheel, green can energize it while recalling the 1970s.

Lilac and blue: two natural shades ideal when you need to be zen or boost your concentration.

Lilac and yellow: a good complementary color to violet, yellow mixed with lilac is sure to sparkle!
